In order to bring closer friendship and strengthen partnership between Indonesia and Korea,
the Indonesian Embassy in Seoul will hold the Indonesian Festival in 2023.
This event being organized after experiencing COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years.

The Indonesian Festival 2023 in Korea coincided with the 50th anniversary of Indonesia’s bilateral relationship with Korea.

    Festival Indonesia becomes an important event for several reasons including:
  • A means to introduce Indonesian art and culture: This festival can be an event to introduce Indonesian art and culture to Indonesian and South Korean People.
    This can help increase appreciation for cultural and arts diversity in Indonesia.
  • Expanding the market for Indonesian products: This festival can also help introduce and expand the Indonesian product market in South Korea through both Indonesian citizens in Korea and direct to Koreans.
    This can provide opportunities for Indonesian entrepreneurs to expand their market and increase exports of Indonesian products to Korea.
  • Media promoting tourism: By introducing Indonesian culture to Korean, the festival can help promote Indonesian tourism as well.
    This can help increase the number of foreign tourists from Korea coming Indonesia, which in turn can provide economic benefits to the country.
  • A means of improving relations between Indonesia and South Korea:
    The Indonesian Festival in Korea can be an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic and cultural relations between the two countries.
    This can help improve cooperation in various fields, such as trade, investment, and education.

Festival Indonesia in Korea can have significant benefits for Indonesian diaspora in Korea and South Koreans if planned well.

Assalamualaikum Wr. Wb. Salam Sejahtera. Om Swastiastu, Namong Budaya.
Dear my Indonesian citizens in South Korea, Korean citizens and foreign nationals living in Korea.
I am, Ambassador Gandi Sulistiyanto, on behalf of all the staff at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Seoul, humbly and proudly, welcome you all to this historic moment, the 2023 Indonesian Festival in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Indonesia-Korea relations and the 78th anniversary of Indonesian Independence day at Gwanghwamun Plaza, Seoul – South Korea.

Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Korea have been strongly build for five decades. On this journey, we have seen close cooperation in a wide range of fields, from economy, investment, politics, trade, defense, education, and culture. This 2023 Indonesian festival is a testament to how the wo geographically different nations have been able to work together and build a genuine friendship for 50 years. We mark this golden anniversary with the motto "Closer Friendship, Stronger Partnership".

This festival is not just a mere celebration, but It is also a form of appreciation for the rich cultural, art, and culinary works and traditions of Indonesia. We have the honor to present some of the best features of Indonesia's beauty. This event is carefully designed to show off the richness of Indonesian traditional dance that captivates the heart of the audiences, such as Reog, Bedhayan, Ratoe Jaroeh, and Tor-Tor dance, Pencak silat, and various performances of Indonesian modern dance and music, as well as the well known Indonesian artists.

You will also be able to enjoy Indonesian culinary and delicacies that are already famous around the world, from delicious rendang to Indonesian fried rice.

Besides the above mentions, 2023 Indonesian Festival is also an event to promote regional brand and products from Indonesia.
These products reflect the richness of nature and hand skills of craftsmen in various regions of Indonesia. We hope that, through this event, more and more people in Korea can learn and love the beauty of Indonesian cultures and the quality of Indonesian products.
